I created this football finances blog in 2010 for a university project. Back then, Cristiano Ronaldo's £80m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid was the most expensive transfer in world football history. Since then, the record has been broken 5 different times, and of course it was smashed by Neymar's eye-watering £198m move form Barca to PSG in the Summer of 2017.
So, to get back in the saddle, I'll be taking a look through the history of the list of most expensive transfers in football history. From the late 1800s all the way to present day. Come with me now on a journey through time and space.... and transfers.
